The company behind Diglot & Copyeditor
Writing tools for people who think in more than one language.
Writence builds writing software for the world’s non-native English writers and academics — clear, fair, provably-human writing, no matter which language you think in first.
Two products, one mission: fair, clear writing for a multilingual world.
Our mission
Most of the world writes English as a second language. The tools they’re given weren’t built for them — and the systems judging their writing are biased against them. We’re here to change both.
OUR PRODUCTS
One workspace, two front doors
Diglot and Copyeditor share the same engine — and the same belief that the writer should stay in control. Each meets a different writer where they are.
Diglot.ai
The bilingual writing workspace for non-native English speakers. Draft in your language, publish polished English, and prove you wrote it.
Copyeditor.app
The all-in-one academic writing workspace. Structured drafting, citations, references, and originality — without juggling six tabs.
WHY WE EXIST
The research that started the company
We didn’t set out to build a grammar tool. We set out to fix an injustice: the writers who work hardest at English are the ones most often accused of not writing their own words.
Read the research →- AI detectors mathematically cannot stop falsely flagging non-native English writers.
- Multiple studies (Stanford 2023, Maryland 2025, and others) confirm the bias.
- Real-world false-positive rates on ESL text run far higher than vendors claim.
- So we built cryptographic Authorship Certificates — proof anyone can verify.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
The principles behind everything we ship
Fairness first
AI detectors are biased against non-native writers. We build tools that defend the people that bias hurts most.
Keep the human
Our products improve writing without replacing the writer. The work should still be yours — and provably so.
Privacy by default
We don’t train on your writing. On-device where we can, consent-first everywhere else.
Built bilingual
We’re non-native English writers ourselves. We build the workflow we wished existed.
Two products.
One mission.
